The Turkish Telecommunications Department's decision to block Sputnik news agency's website in Turkey is a clear sign of censorship and lack of freedom of speech in the country, Sputnik's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Turkish Telecommunications Department confirmed that a decision had been made to block the Sputnik website within the country.
"The decision of the Turkish authorities to restrict access to our Sputnik [website] is another act of strict censorship in a country where the question of freedom of speech no longer exists. It is just not there. This solution looks especially absurd bearing in mind that several days ago Sputnik was marked by the award of Journalists Union of Turkey," Simonyan said.

Administrators at Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, Arizona, have issued a mandate to students about what they can and cannot wear to a football game against rival Marcos de Niza — wear what we approve of or you will not be admitted.

What constitutes unacceptable clothing choices that could have “any possible offensive connotations”? According to the school paper:
It is the unfortunate truth that if you wear red, white or blue to the game you will not be admitted to the stadium. This is a fact.
But it didn’t end there. In a now deleted tweet, the newspaper staff was asked to be more specific as to what constitutes a violation of banned clothing list, to which the paper’s editors responded:

PRESIDENT KENNEDY WARNED US THAT "THOSE WHO MAKE PEACEFUL REVOLUTION IMPOSSIBLE WILL MAKE VIOLENT REVOLUTION INEVITABLE."

SO SPAIN CHOOSES TO MAKE IT INEVITIABLE

Spain: Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets in opposition to legislation that proposes hefty fines for burning Spain’s flag or holding protests outside government buildings. [Opponents of the bill say it is an attempt to muzzle protesters from speaking out about the financial crisis.]

Spain’s new security law sparks protests across country
Human rights groups say law is parliament’s attempt to ‘gag’ public and muzzle protests over its handling of country’s financial crisis
The new law allows fines of up to €30,000 for disseminating photographs of police officers that are deemed to endanger them or their operations.
Individuals participating in demonstrations outside parliament buildings or key installations could be fined up to €600,000, if they are considered to breach the peace. Those insulting police officers could be fined up €600. Burning a national flag could cost the perpetrator a maximum fine of €30,000.

The law [HRW report; text, PDF in Spanish], which was approved last Thursday by the Spanish parliament [official website], is highly controversial and has been criticized as a specific way for the government to silence protesters of its handling of the country’scurrent financial crisis [BBC backgrounder].
