Anti-Iran Egyptian Journalist Praises Iran as Global Power, Slams Others for Subordination to US
TEHRAN (FNA)- Fahwi Hussein, a prominent Egyptian journalist, lauded the Iranian nation for standing on its feet and developing into a global power, and rapped other regional states for their dependence on the US and other western powers.
Fahwi Hussein is an Arab nationalist journalist and a fervent admirer of former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser whose pan-Arabist views are usually against Iran.
In an editorial in Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, he recently compared Egypt and other regional states with Iran.
"Over 30 years ago, we and the Iranians were at the same level on the international scene but the Iranians opted for the path of fight and resistance against the superpowers, specially the US, and we chose the path of compromise. We were every year paid $4bln by the US in the form of a grant for our betrayal of the Arabs, but the Iranians experienced political and economic pressures, sanctions, internal war and an unequal and unbalanced war," he wrote.
"… today, Iran has turned into a global power from a regional power and no problem in the region and the world can be resolved without Iran's view and partnership. Each of the US presidential candidates have used the word, Iran, in their TV debates for 64 times as if they didn't have any other rival or foe in the world but Iran," Hussein added.
"… Another point is that the Iranians are now among the first 10 advanced world states in all strategic branches of science, including nuclear, nano, human cloning, medicine and other technologies. They rank 4th in the world in missile industries and maybe they rank 1st in the world considering the precision and speed of their missiles. Iran is a secure and stable island in the region while we are worried about preparing even a loaf of bread for most of our people despite the US support and its annual aid…." he wrote.
"When a country doesn’t have a strong leader, then it will become Egypt, when a society lacks unity, it will become Iraq, when a country lacks a strong commander, it will become Pakistan, when a country has an artificial Muslim leader who is the East and West's puppet, then it will become Turkey, but when in a Shiite country, the leader cannot be blackmailed by anyone despite all pressures, different tastes, 8-year-long war and 30 years of political and economic sanctions, then the enemies will have no more room to breathe and that country becomes Iran that is surrounded by the fire of regional wars and the wounded wolves restlessly howl behind its borders… but no one dares to give a dirty look to it and no one dares to make the slightest aggression against their land…,"  Hussein concluded.
