'We need to take action to survive': Just Stop Oil activist DEFENDS M25 shutdown in video from gantry - as eco-mob flout injunction to target nine of the SAME junctions as yesterday causing drivers to miss flights and hospital appointments
- Just Stop Oil struck again, doing the same thing at the same time as yesterday to strike motorway gantries
- A total of 35 arrests were made at different locations by officers yesterday over the same type of stunts
- Police had made a series of arrests amid the demonstrators' plans for blockades before they took place
Fed-up drivers ignored smart motorway markings to go into closed lanes in a desperate attempt to get to work as protesters claimed they had 'to take action to survive'.
They targeted the M25 gantries at junctions 1b, 8/9, 12/13, 7/8, 11, 12/13, 14/15, 20, 21a, 22, 27 and 31. Many of them were the same locations hit yesterday, sparking disbelief police were today not better prepared.
By 9am the gantry at junction 7/8 was cleared and the protester arrested, with the same happening at junction 31 within the hour. Junctions 11/12, 8/9 and 11 were also back open by 11am.
Kent Police said two had been arrested at junction 1b for getting on the gantry, with the Met saying a total of 16 had been detained over the M25 stunt.
The eco-zealots, who widely publicise their activities, want an end to the use of fossil fuels for the sake of the environment. They laughed off an injunction designed to stop them.
Speaking from the top of a gantry protester earlier Charlotte Kirin, 53, a social worker and parent from Bury St Edmunds: 'In order to survive, we need to take action to stop new oil and gas
