“We are taking a lot of serious steps within the federal government,” he said.
“The challenge we have is that in North Carolina, the law that comes up, it’s a state law and because of our system of government, I can’t overturn on my own, state laws, unless a federal law is passed that prevents that from happening and, with the Congress I have, that’s not likely to happen.”
The Obama administration’s directive Friday that every public school provide transgender access — or face the loss of federal funds — drew swift and strong condemnation from conservatives, with one public official blasting it as presidential “blackmail.”
White House spokesman Josh Earnest later defended the letter as “guidance” that was requested by schools across the country and said it “does not add any additional requirements under the law.”
Black conservatives issued sharp condemnations to President Obama’s press for transgender-bathroom rights in all schools across America that receive federal funding, saying his characterization of the matter as a civil-rights issue, akin to pulling the South out of Jim Crow discrimination, is of particular offense.
Lt. Governor of Texas Will Forgo Federal Funds Over Transgender Bathroom Policy
DALLAS — Texas’ lieutenant governor says the state is prepared to forfeit billions of dollars in federal funding for public schools following an Obama administration directive over bathroom access for transgender students.
Republican Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Friday that Texas “will not yield to blackmail” and urged superintendents to defy the new federal guidance.
States Lining Up With North Carolina – AGAINST Barack Obama
So far 13 states have condemned Barack Obama’s unconstitutional overreach in attempting to require transgender-friendly restrooms, showers and locker rooms in all public places.
Most of the fracas began in North Carolina, where the state’s new HB2 law – requiring people to use restrooms consistent with their biological sex – was immediately challenged by the Justice Department. North Carolina immediately filed a lawsuit against the Justice Department for executive overreach.
In the same week, Obama issued a “guidance letter,” (a threat, really) to all public schools that they must allow transgender students and staff to use whichever restroom they please.
Other states jumped on board, defending North Carolina and the state’s rights to set these guidelines themselves without federal interference. At the very least, they want Congress to establish guidelines and not the Executive Branch.
Could these kids be more screwed up, they don’t even know how to answer…..
