PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say a man who caused a wrong-way crash in Philadelphia has died after he fled and jumped off an overpass.
Authorities say the man was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Roosevelt Boulevard in the city's East Falls section around 4 p.m. Thursday. They say he sideswiped two cars and hit a third vehicle head-on.
Police say he then fled his car and jumped the barrier, injuring his foot and head. He died at a hospital just after 8:30 p.m.
Police say two people in the other vehicle were hospitalized with injuries. They are expected to live.
Police say the suspect's girlfriend jumped out before the collision. Her mother, who stayed in the backseat, is being treated for a hip injury.
The man's name has not been released.
Blogger's note: Well I guess that we will have to ban overpasses, highways, and automobiles. Yes, we made sure that this man did not have a gun to commit suicide with. Gee if he had would he have tried the head on crash? His majesty will not shed a tear over this.
